The Sonnenrad

Earlier we took a look at the fylfot (swastika) and its connection to, and meaning for, Yule and the New Year. While there is much that can be expanded on therein, it is basic to note that the fylfot is connected integrally to fire, creation, rebirth, the return out of darkness, and specifically connected with Freyr, Odin and Thor. We also uncovered the connections of Freyr and the swastika to the greater Indo-European stream of knowledge, with his proper name Ingwi being of the same origin as the Indo-Aryan Agni, and likewise Thor being Thur-Agni or Thuragna among the Asuras. And subsequently, the mythology of the breath of life being blown into Ask and Embla, or Mashya and Mashyana, and the gift of Vayu-Wotan to the children of the Sun - the Urfyr, or Fa. The rune Fa, doubled and inverted upon itself, forms Gibor, the concealed swastika, and thus the fire-whisk, or creation.

Now we take a look at an even more mysterious symbol of the Runic paths, one which may be thought of as the fylfot's completion and ascendance. Like the fylfot, this symbol has long been honored by the noble, shunned by the ignoble, suppressed by the herder, and despised by the sheep. Like the fylfot, there is much disinformation being spewed about it, insomuch as it is mentioned at all outside of Runic circles.

We are, of course, speaking of the Black Sun. Or more specifically, its Germanic form, as the Sonnenrad (sun-wheel) or Schwarz-Sonne. For there are similar symbols in the Slavic and Scythian traditions as well, though not all of the same esoteric meanings carry over.

What is this mysterious, mesmerizing, and (some would say) fearsome symbol?

We have two streams of information on this ancient holy sign. The first is the ancient lore, some archaeological, some esoteric, passed down through "Armanist" or "Irminist" family traditions over the centuries. The second is purely modern, tying into Wewelsburg castle, the spiritualists of the Third Reich, and the more clandestine circles of the Vril and Edda societies, as well as postwar mystics who resumed their quest for power beyond the purely earthly, viewing runes and solar symbols as wisdom of alien origin, and the first Aryans as a not-quite-earthly people, whose culture influenced all ancient civilizations from Greece to Babylon to Tibet. In some ways these two currents of knowledge are in stark contrast with each other. One cannot truly say that everything the more traditional Armanist/Irminist clans believed about the Black Sun has anything in common with what people like Karl von Sebottendorf, Maria Orsic, Miguel Serrano or the UFO chasers understood from it (and even these did not share one unified view on the greater Indo-European cosmology of which it is such a major part). So the meanings of it have to be viewed through as initiatory a lens as possible.

We are not saying it is an alien symbol from a cosmic race in the Aldebaran system, though that doesn't mean it can't be. We are also not saying that it is a direct revealed message from Odin in the earliest times of the Ur-Aryan tribes - though that doesn't mean it can't be. More important than any such assertions by convinced adepts of either path, is the esoteric meanings of this symbol, in which there is significant overlap between the Armanic traditionalists and the Vril-Babylon modernists, regardless of whatever else they may disagree on.

The Armanist Narrative

The true origin of the Black Sun symbol, in the archaeological record, is likely to be some time before the Migration Age (1st millennium BCE) in Eurasia, as we know that the Alamanni, Goths and other Germanic tribes with both a western and and eastern presence at the time, made bronze brooches with a similar sunwheel design. These ornamental disks, or Ziercheiben, were found in Alemannic women's graves in Germany. The significance of these symbols in women's graves of the period is not lost on people who understand one of the Sonnenrad's major meanings: the Black Sun is in one sense a womb, the mother of all things, the darkness from which creation emerges. In a theosophical sense (and here we speak of "theosophy" in a general vein as the synthesis of science and spirituality, not as the movements founded by Blavatsky, Gurdjeff, etc.), the Black Sun symbolizes the gigantic Black Hole at our galaxy's center, which is indeed the mother of the galaxy, for by its gravity waves and magnetic waves spinning the gas into a spiral, it triggers eddies of star formation, literally birthing entire systems. Yet there is also a chaotic and destructive side to the Black Sun, as getting too close (literally, too oft attached) can result in being torn apart. This understanding of the primal feminine energy was integral to the Cult of Nerthus, for much as this primal Goddess of the Depths gives, she also takes away.

This however was not the only meaning of the Black Sun, nor perhaps even the foremost. Nor was it considered a symbol of femininity in an overt sense, as lunar symbols sometimes were in the Nordic-Slavic centers in Kievan Rus, but in this aspect, more of a primal energy of the creative mother which is a sort of supernatural archetype of vitality for women to seek out. Yet because it is also a solar symbol, and thus a manifestation of primal fire (Fa), it also has a strong masculine creative aspect of which the female wearers of these brooches were also aware. For it is Odin's fire-whisk and Thor's thunder-cross manifested threefold. A man embodying both the Odinic (commanding and beguiling) and Thoric (purely dominant) essences was their ideal man, the ideal singularity of strength around which the Black Sun can rotate. This is a fundamental truth of traditional societies, and of genetics.

The sun-wheel itself has been represented in many different forms throughout the Indo-European experience. One thing that can be agreed on, is that many ancient cultures began as solar cultures before later incorporating lunar and planetary symbols into their lore. The Sonnenrad can therefore be seen as a primal manifestation of solar symbols stretching back into the prehistory of the Aryan mind. We know that some of the earliest Middle Eastern societies to build lasting monuments, such as the Sumerians and the Egyptians, began as sun-tracking cultures under the influence of southern Aryan tribes from Aratta, Urartu, and Dilmun, which contrary to mainstream scholarship, was not in Arabia but rather in northern Iran on the Caspian Sea, which kept the name Deylaman into medieval times. (Notice something about these terms: Aratta, Urartu, Dilmun. How do they carry over into other IE languages? Ar-Ata, Ur-Ar-Tu, Dey-La-Man in Iranian languages. In proto-Germanic, Ar-Asa, Ur-Ar-Tiw, Dag-Laf-Man.) These are all runic names! These are all primal Aryan runic epigrams, easily convertible into Armanen runes. They are also the oldest known civilizations in the "Middle East", predating the literacy and agriculture of Mesopotamia's semitic cultures by at least two millennia.

In fact, one does not even need to be a convinced Armanist, let alone Ariosophist, to understand that these ancient Aryan kingdoms taught the Mesopotamians of Sumer, Akkad, Asshur, and Bab-Ilu literally all they knew of maths, science, farming, astronomy, medicine, building, metallurgy, and time. We know this because the mythology of the semites says so, in fairly explicit terms. These seemingly divine teachers of knowledge, the Mesopotamians called Abgallu, literally "water-men" or "fish-men", describing them as gods in human form, covered in fish-like scales and pointed helmets like the head of a fish, riding on the backs of gigantic sea serpents down the rivers of Abzu (water-rush), most likely the Arvand-Rud. It is the longest river in western Iran, and fits with the description of the fundamentally agricultural and metallurgic mastery of the Dilmuni people. The mainstream view of Dilmun being located in Bahrain (coastal Arabia) is clearly false, as Bahrain was historically a cluster of coastal sandy islands with no rivers, no mountain springs that could produce rivers, and no fertile soil for agriculture to speak of. Bahrain at the time produced only stone-age herdsmen, not technologically advanced farmers and builders. The mainstream view serves to obscure reality.

While pop-conspiracy crackpots such as Zechariah Sitchin spread wild rumors that the serpents refer to alien UFOs and "reptilians" from "Nibiru" trying to enslave humanity, there is a far simpler and more solid explanation of far more worth to the Runenmeister: The Abgallu were not aliens, not "nephilim", not reptiles - they were proto-Aryans, the historical "Atlanteans". The fish scales were not literal scales, but scale-mail armor, which is referenced in the ancient tales of Persian epics going back millennia before Greece and Rome. The fish-heads were not literal fish-heads, but ornamented conical helmets, the spangenhelm, which were a common feature of Iranian, Slavic, and Germanic tribes in the Bronze Age, with the Greeks referring to them as "barbarian helmets". The serpents on which they rode, were advanced boats similar to Scythian river vessels, and the ancient forerunners of Viking ships. It is interesting that mainstream history expects us to believe that the Viking longboat seemingly appears out of nowhere in the 7th century, whereas Armanism takes the view that all Germanic technologies evolved out of an earlier pan-Indo-European cultural heritage. Perhaps loons like Sitchin spread disinformation regarding the true origin of the Abgallu for their own interests, to further inter-ethnic fragmentation and weaken any awareness of a greater ancient connection between north and south Arya. Weak attempt, Zechariah. We know the tactics of your ilk.

Migrations of southern Aryan branch. The Abgallu were the western migration into Ubaid
As the legend goes, the Abgallu rowed down the Abzu (Arvand-Rud) to the region of Ubaid (now known as Sumeria), swiftly dazzling all who saw their shining scales, their serpent-like ships, their seemingly otherworldly technology, and their (sometimes) golden hair. We know of course that in Iran and Anatolia, they clearly didn't all have the same hair color (even among Swedes there are plenty of brunettes), but golden hair was unheard of among Sumer and Akkad, so they chose to emphasize this trait in their accounts of these advanced strangers. Note that the fish and the fish head below are highly stylized, indeed even the gill slits form the triple horns on either size of the crowns worn by Babylonian gods.

Among the earliest symbols that came with the Abgallu to Mesopotamia was the sun-wheel, and this was represented among the Assyrians and Akkadians as a solar cross. In fact, this equilateral cross was thousands of years older than Christianity or crucifixion, and represents the real origin of the equilateral crosses of Europe; for as the Abgallu took the solar Aryan symbols south, so did their kin north of the Caucasus take them north. The Assyrian sun cross is in appearance no different from the Germanic knight's cross, which was also a brooch emblem dating back thousands of years. Critically, in both contexts the message is the same; this is a solar symbol of divine kingship, not a torture device. In Assyrian carvings it is almost always shown above the head of a king. In Germanic brooches, it is found in the graves of kings. Though not the Sonnenrad, it represents a related aspect of the solar powers, namely the resplendent aura (Farr) of divine favor, bestowed by Freyr/Fravar/Faravahar upon the worthy kings. The natives of Mesopotamia knew nothing of these symbols until the Abgallu ruled over them as kings wearing these symbols, but later as the races mingled somewhat in the late Bronze Age, they wholeheartedly accepted these solar symbols as their own.

Thus as its various forms, the sunwheel embodies various meanings. As the fylfot, the fire-whisk, which ancient Persians called Gardune-Mehr or "cyclone of light", it is a symbol of unconquerable power and triumph over circumstance, with the breath of Vayu-Vata making man of a higher order than the mere instinctive beast. As the solar cross or knight's cross, it is the embodiment of divine favor and holy kingship, something that was stamped on everything royal to legitimize a dynasty in nearly every people influenced by Aryan culture, from the Anglo-Saxons to the Achamenids.

The Sonnenrad itself is more mysterious. It has twelve arms or branches, each of which resembles a Sig-rune. So this could be taken as a sign of victory. The 12th rune of the Armanen system, which is the rune row culturally most attuned to the same tradition as the Black Sun, is however not Sig, but the following rune, Tyr. Hence, Sig is repeated Tyr number of times. Twelve victories is symbolic of Tyr, of literally God-like status.

Its importance may also be tied to the seasons. There are twelve months to a solar year, and four seasons, three months in each. The Sonnenrad can be said to compose three swastikas of various tilt, with four arms to each, hence twelve. As representing the turning of the seasons, this is an obvious connection.

The Black Sun as a calendar, with the 12 original solar months of the Teutonic year, as named by Guido von List in The Religion of the Aryo-Germanic Folk, Esoteric and Exoteric.

However, we come back to the question of the Black Sun in its mystical significance: why black? And is it literally black, or simply "hidden"?

In the German rune traditions, the notion of the Black Sun was more oral than written. Even today there is precious little information about it, and most of what one does find is extreme postwar Allied propaganda about some supposed top-secret SS ritual in Wewelsburg castle with Himmler presiding over the obligatory Hollywood blood sacrifice/satanic mass/[insert favorite paranoid zionist fantasy here]. In reality, the original Black Sun - the ancient Germanic symbol - is far more elegant than the hype, and has a mystical aspect little revealed outside the Armanist/Irminist circles of Germany and Austria. The Schwarze Sonne's true origins are hidden in the mists of time, much like the origins of the Runes and indeed the Odinic Journey itself. This fact is generally not disputed by people with a real interest in Indo-European cultures who delve deeper into the past. The symbol's history is far older and deeper than the brief period from 1933 to 1945. Here are a few basic insights.

There are, to put it simply, different kinds of light. Of course in science we understand this all too well: visible light in white or yellow wavelengths wakes us up, whereas gamma rays will destroy tissue and in large amounts kill you. In a metaphysical sense, light also is of different forms. Much like the visible sun - the "white" or "yellow" sun we see - illuminates the earth, the eyes, the physical world; so does the black sun or the invisible sun illuminate the mind of man.

Much as visible light guides the steps in Midgard, the invisible energy of this Dark Sun guides the inner work of the enabling of the Runenmeister towards excellence in all focused actions. Habit is modified by ritual. Ritual is guided by Immanence (if it is sincere ritual felt in the bones and blood, rather than a mere repetitive tradition handed down by rote). Immanence has a source.

The ultimate source of Immanence, creative fury, and Will to Power, is the void from which Being emerges, and into which Non-Being is annihilated - the Black Hole, the Black Sun, the Deep of Yggdrasil, the greater universal Hel, the Event Horizon, the Schwarzschild radius. Thus a connection with the Black Sun energy is a microcosm of the Odinic Journey of the Runes, a rebirth in miniature, that informs the soul, in ways not quite intelligible to one who has not experienced the connection, of the simple yet radical changes that must be taken so that all obstacles can be toppled.

Unlike the "light" of Kabbalists and Freemasons, who work only with the low-tone vibrations of material concepts and materialist symbology (tools, walls, enclosures, pillars, candles) which can easily be manipulated, the energies of the Runenmeister are beyond the material plane, beyond either extreme of enslavement to it or denial of it, on the very essence-level of movement behind matter and energy on a primal level. This is a high-tone vibration of the solar essence of resonance, and to master its use requires far less formality and far more intuition - far more Immanence, and this is not something which just any person can master. Indeed it ultimately requires going far outside the comfortable mainstream of "bliss-seeking" and navel-gazing which popular mysticism of various flavors has degenerated into. It often requires one to go against the herd, to risk controversy, to have the spark of desire to seize karma by the throat whenever possible, to burn with the craving not to be "at one with Odin", but rather, to become for oneself, as Odin is. It requires one to understand the cycles of Deep Time, and when necessary, to defy it. Only then can one be reborn greater in any desired sphere, and not merely meander about with one's mind already asleep and catatonic in Hel.

Thus, the Black Sun is the key to understanding not just the annual solar wheel, but the wheel of Time itself, from origin back to origin, or literally S'ur-T'ur, Zu Ur von Ur. Surtur, in the Armanic sense, is not the simple crude fire-giant that the Surt of late Icelandic lore was reduced to, but rather the Eldest of existences, the agent of change since before Gods and Giants began to be. Thus Surtur ruled Muspellheim and fired the cosmos with power before any giants, even Ymir, had life. Surtur is time itself - the march of the wheel of Time. Surtur, corresponding to Saturn in the Roman tradition and Zurvan in the Iranian (and oddly the German Zu Ur von Ur seems cognatistic with this) is the supreme deity of Time itself. From Time much can be learned, but it ultimately kills its students.

From Surtur much can be wrested, but only by racing against him; only by opposing the blind conformity of one's own Age can the deeper truths of life be discovered; only by standing against Time can one rise above one's own. Thus Freyr does not stand passively by as Surtr ages the worlds towards Ragnarok. Odin does not stand idle despite knowing what will happen. He still opposes the decline; for without augmenting the self and opposing entropy, how can one get a better result in the rebirth? What is the next incarnation worth, if the current one was neglected and thrown away? What happens in an age, when the people of the previous one let everything they inherited go to waste?

And yet in the end, as Guido von List reveals to us, Surtur is really the primal form of All-Father - not a demon, but a prime mover. Odin or Wotan is the personal manifestation of Allfather, whose source-state is Surtur. Though largely amoral and impersonal, Surtur is essential to the cosmos both as undercurrent and adversary. Meister von List elaborates:

"The oldest divine triad to be named is: "Wuotan, Wili, We," later they are called "Wuotan, Hoenir, Lodur," ... and in the Younger Edda they appear once as "Har, Jafnhar, Thridi." Wuotan or Odin is always the First One and his name remains unaltered, while the Second and Third change their names. Even more telling is the third triad: "Har, Jafnhar, Thridi," which literally means: "the High One (Har = Ar = Sun, Right, the High, etc,), the "Just-As-High," and the Turner (trie = to turn [drehen], to wind, not "the third"). The Ases can only shape the form of humanity, and only Wuotan provides humanity with spirit, the human soul, while Hoenir conveys the lower soul or intellect, and Lodur gives the material body. The name Wuotan or Odhin (Od-in = spirit within), however, indicates that its bearer is the most powerful of the three, and that he himself is actually the One and Only. But this singular One is actually the second manifestation of the divine spirit revealing itself through materialization. He is the Second Logos, and as such he is the "All-Father," who can be portrayed in a human form superimposed over Wuotan, while he can also appear in human form as Wuotan himself. All-Father, who is also called Surtur (the Dark-One, not the Black-one), as his name indicates, is the All-creator and Wuotan is his reflection in human form, and as such Wuotan is also rightfully called the "All-Father -- for he is "One with his Father in Heaven."

That which concerns the essence of the Triad of Gods as such symbolizes the three stages: "coming into being -- becoming -- and passing away (toward new arising)," and this is expressed by all groups of names in all mythical triads."

- Guido von List, The Religion of the Aryo-Germanic Folk: Esoteric and Exoteric (translated by Stephen Flowers, PhD)

Thus, the term "Black Sun" can be treated in a similar context; Schwarze Sonne, or Svart Sunna, is not literally black in color, but hidden, darkened, concealed. Surtur, for the Armanen, is the concealed primal form of All-Father, as Wotan is the personified, refined form. In times of breakdown and crisis, a conflict is forced between Surtur as "Father Time" and the conscious manifestation of All-Father as Wotan. This is not due to any hatred between the two forms, but rather the accumulation of regressive karma (en-karma) in the cosmos due to the chaotic aspect of the Od force overpowering the ordered form in the actions of beings - a classic "Kali-Yuga" paradigm. Wotan seeks to fight this process as long as possible, whereas Surtur, the unconscious and impersonal turn of the wheel of Time, has no qualms of pushing through it to its fruition; a brutal cosmic cleansing and rebirth. Thus he is a wider principle, beyond mere "good" and "evil", the inexorable gravitas of change between higher and lower states of complexity. Surtur does not change in the next cycle without Wotan, the active manifestation, pushing for a change in this one. Likewise, the Black Sun is the primal form of the solar principle, holding, as it does, an entire galaxy in its orbit, but the energy of the Black Sun can only be unlocked by ritual changes in one's actions. The yellow sun we know is only a temporal manifestation, as reflection of its power, one of many, just as Odin, Vili, Ve, Grimnir, Sigtyr, Hangatyr, Hroptatyr and so forth are multiple manifestations of the All-Father, in a means far more accessible to man than the primal mover of the Time-wheel, Surtur. The Arya-aware man is fully cognizant, at last, of the tendencies of Odin and Surtur present within himself as microcosm of Yggdrasil, the universe.

For all of that, the Black Sun is the illumination of the soul, the exposing of the lie of absolute peace and passivity, and the revelation of action in the cosmos, and interactions and indeed conflict between different karmas, different Wyrds, as the cause of all increase and manifestation. To manifest a reality, there must be passion and action. There must be the vortex, the inward flow, the concentration of will. There must be the Sonnenrad, in microcosm, in the man.

Most people never manifest a reality worth being proud of, even to their own minds.

Yet another ancient interpretation hints at the days of Ragnarok, the end of the current great cycle and the start of the next. The black sun in that sense is an actual phase of the cosmos in transition, and a time of both destruction and rebirth. This is attested in the Völuspá:

Now valiant comes Valfather's son,
Vidar, to vie with Valdyr in battle,
Plunges his sword into the son of Hvedrung,
Avenging his father with a fell thrust.

Now the son of Hlodyn and Odin comes
To fight with Fenris; fiercest of warriors
He mauls in his rage all Midgard;
Men in fear all flee their homesteads;
Nine paces back steps Bur's son
Retreats from the worm of taunts unafraid.

Now death is the portion of doomed men,
Red with blood the buildings of gods,
The sun turns black in the summer after,
Winds whine. Well, would you know yet more?

Earth sinks in the sea, the sun turns black,
Cast down from Heaven are the hot stars,
Fumes reek, into flames burst,
The sky itself is scorched with fire.

I see Earth rising a second time
Out of the foam, fair and green;
Down from the fells fish to capture,
Wings the eagle; waters flow.

At ldavollr the Aesir meet:
They remember the Worm of Midgard,
Ponder again the great twilight
And the ancient runes of the Ruler of Gods.

Ponder indeed. For only by plunging to the darkest depths of Yggdrasil were the runes gained. Only in the deepest void was their source found. And only in the Black Sun is there a symbol anywhere in the Runic paths that is both "void" and "source" in one. It is both the concentrator and dissipator of power. Both the attractor and the accelerator. Dark Matter draws together, Dark Energy scatters apart.

And so on.

The Wewelsburg Narrative

The second and perhaps more hyped-up story regarding the Sonnenrad is related to its significance as a floor mosaic in the Remaissance castle of Wewelsburg, a three-towered triangular fortress which was purchased and repaired by the NSDAP (more specifically the SS) from 1933 to 1943 at the direction of Heinrich Himmler. It is here that the story surrounding this symbol takes a sharp detour from the metaphysical to the downright insane.

Mainstream history tells us that Himmler restored the castle to be an occult center for his SS commanders, as sort of Camelot-Vatican hybrid for the 'black knights' of his planned SS warrior aristocracy to use as both a spiritual and political center. Mainstream history also tells us that Himmler invented the Black Sun symbol and ordered the installation of the Black Sun mosaic in the North Tower, that there were allegedly ancient "occult" pagan rites performed in the same room under Himmler's direction, that there were runes and runic shields everywhere on the property, and (paradoxically) that satanic "black masses", child sacrifices, and the entire litany of paranoid Christian Fundamentalist delusions from the "satanic panic" of the 1980s actually took place there. All this tall tale is missing is "Ilsa the She-Wolf" and a few of her faux-leather BDSM companions for maximum tabloid cheesiness.

The Black Sun mosaic (actually green) at Wewelsburg today. The castle is now a youth hostel, complete with Ikea bookcases and beanie pillows.

Mainstream history does not tell us the reality of Wewelsburg's reconstruction - that Himmler's original plans for the North Tower did not make any mention of the Black Sun floor mosaic. Mainstream history also does not mention that the Schwarze Sonne in various forms predates the Third Reich by thousands of years, and that even in its modern 12-spoked form, was already present on the Bismarck memorial in Hamburg in 1906, long before the National Socialist ideology (let alone the party) was even formed. Himmler never mentioned the Schwarze Sonne in official documents took no interest in the ruined North Tower, occult or otherwise, until 1935. We were not told that there is no actual evidence that Himmler had the mosaic installed, nor that its precise age is not even known! There is also no confirmed evidence that Himmler ever planned any sort of rituals in the North Tower beyond a remembrance ceremony for slain SS generals, and that would have been in the cellar crypt of the tower, several meters below the floor that contains the Black Sun mosaic. Mainstream history also does not provide any verifiable proof of the existence of any actual private SS rituals, apart from marriage ceremonies, which were purely secular affairs, with no mention of the Old Gods or anything distinctly "pagan" or "heathen" (unless one insists on taking an explicitly heathen meaning from terms like "blood and soil"). Likewise there is no evidence that anyone at Wewelsburg combined ancient Germanic rituals with "black masses" or "satanic" child murders, which historically were little more than paranoid fantasies of the Catholic Church, and later, various Protestant churches and had no connection to Germanic heathenry. We were lied to.

The Crypt at the North Tower - beneath the mosaic floor.

This false linkage of the Black Sun to the National Socialist era (aside from the aforementioned delusional rumors and lurid tall tales) lies primarily due to Heinrich Himmler's and his personal mystic Karl Maria Wiligut's misguided interest in Germanic Heathenish spiritualism, Wiligut's own personal quasi-runic magickal system, and their shared interest and usage of Wewelsburg. On a side note, Wiligut had so little regard for traditional Germanic rune-masters that he personally abused Guido von List's Armanen rune row, which was far older than Wiligut's and was far more influential then, as it is also today - in favor of his own invented one. Wiligut also fabricated German history with a false conspiracy theory about Wotanism supposedly usurping Germanic religion from a fictitious "cult of Krist" which he invented, claiming "Christ" was actually a Germanic deity predating Odin/Wotan (never once considering that the roots of the name Vili-Ve-Wotan predate Germanic identity itself). He also cooked up impossible dates and timespans for his imagined ancient sect which do not merely stretch credulity - they snap it past the breaking point.

That said, the facts about Wewelsburg are interesting on their own merits. It is a rather unusual castle, being shaped as it is, and it is known that Himmler and some of his friends believed it to have ancient esoteric significance and to rest on an ancient site. Yet as it dates from the Renaissance or Late Medieval era, there is nothing to link it to Germany's Heathen past, and all its original decorations and inscriptions were Christian ones. Precisely why Himmler would have attached an occult significance to it, apart from scanty rumors of witch trials in the area in centuries past, is not well-understood. The mundane reality is that very little is known for sure about what Himmler actually planned for Wewelsburg; there isn't even a sense that the various occultists he was alleged to have employed besides Wiligut even agreed on what to do with the place, beyond using it as a meeting hall for senior SS officers - many of whom despised Wiligut. Rumors that Himmler believed the castle to be the original location of the Holy Grail, or that the 12 spokes of the Black Sun floor mosaic represented the 12 knights of King Arthur, are just that - rumors. We simply do not have many hard facts about this place, much less hard dates about the mosaic or other "occult" features in the tower.

Nevertheless, it is important to avoid the tendency for fanaticism. There is a pathological tendency on the part of many academics to censor free discussion of this period or to demonize any symbol that was associated even indirectly with it, with a blinding brain-fog of "political correctness" replacing conscious thinking about runic and quasi-runic symbolism. Even well-meaning academics are too quick to distance themselves from the Sonnenrad, the Swastika, various runes, and other Germanic symbols for fear of being called "racist" simply because the Third Reich adopted (I repeat, adopted) such symbols for its various internal organizations. Leaving aside whether 'racism' in the modern dog-whistle identitarian sense even had any place in the Reich (as opposed to racial idealism, the belief in the improvability of all races), the groupthink of mainstream academia has largely stopped any sort of rational discussion about the true meanings and merits of these spiritual symbols.

For that matter, even many things that were actual inventions of the Reich were not overall detrimental. The first enforceable animal rights and conservation laws, the first anti-smoking campaign, the first effective cancer treatments, the first regular use of x-ray machines in private clinics, and many of the first national workplace health and safety regulations we take for granted in the Western world, were enacted first by the "evil Nazis" in the Third Reich period. A great deal of technology we take for granted today, from synthetic motor oil to jet engines, was literally funded by the Reich, at a time when much of mainstream science dismissed it as unworkable. Scientists working in Germany had in many cases far more leeway to innovate radical new technologies (some of which we are still just beginning to understand) without fear of losing funding or public face to the arbitrary machinations of "industry consensus" (i.e. corporate collusion). A Werner von Braun, a Walter Horten, a Viktor Schauberger, or even a Heisenberg likely could not survive today in the parsimonious and gossip-enslaved conformist climate of today's western scientific institutions. It's time to grow out of the postwar groupthink and take the good with the bad from every era.

On a spiritual and anthropological level, it is also to be understood that despite the misinformation put out by some Reich organizations such as the Ahnenerbe, and despite the rather ironic suppression of German's own runic traditions under Wiligut, the general understanding of ancient cultures among German universities of the time was at a very high level. The achievements of Babylon, Persia, India, and even the obscure kingdoms of China's western regions, Khotan and Tibet, were more extensively researched by German archaeologists in the 1930s than any other nation. It also comes as a surprise to many people raised on a nonstop diet of Allied propaganda since childhood, that the Reich's official understanding of who is an Aryan, was far more inclusive than most of the race laws in America and Britain at the time. The same Fuhrer who was fingered as "the evil racist" by self-admitted apartheiders and eugenicists Roosevelt and Churchill turns out to be the same man who denounced colonialism throughout Mein Kampf, praised Reza Shah and the Persian Empire as founding Aryans, and offered citizenship to India's Subhas Chandra Bose as a fellow Aryan.

So an honest discussion of the Sonnenrad in the context of the Third Reich period will have to do away with all emotional rhetoric. There are some texts from "esoteric Hitlerist" circles after the war which deal with the understanding such groups had of the Sonnenrad. These materials are still obscure to most people, and of varying quality. Some may be based on ancient family traditions like those of the Armanen, others are the personal synthesis of powerful authors like Miguel Serrano, in which personal gnosis is difficult to separate from hidden traditions simply because of its author's potency as a writer, and yet others are pure speculation of the UFO/Aldebaran variety. Whether any of these beliefs can be traced for certain to actual Third Reich figures is uncertain at best, as we are speaking of "occult" i.e. secret knowledge that people would not have publicly admitted to believing in, particularly given the still-powerful influence of Christianity in the public opinion of the time.

However, a few basic concepts can be gleaned from the existing postwar sources.

1. The Black Sun in Reich-era mystic circles (not necessarily Reich-approved, just from the same time period) was viewed largely through an alchemical context. This means there was extensive reference to medieval and Renaissance grimoires regarding its position in the refinement of the human soul, which metaphorically was referred to as the transmutation of base metal to gold.

2.  There was often reference made to Jung, in his understanding of the alchemical process as a psychological one of transformation. In this sense the Black Sun (though originally not represented by the Sonnenrad in alchemical texts) represents the first stage of awakening, the nigredo, in which you are forced to confront your "shadow aspects" or the uncomfortable truths about your own nature and past, before a conscious change in your life path can be made.

3. There was also input from non-European cultures in the Reich-era (and slightly earlier) Ariosophic circles about the Black Sun, ranging from ostensibly Aryan-influenced mythologies such as the Vedas, to seemingly unrelated Black Sun legends among the Mayans and Aztecs. This may seem odd given that we have been bombarded with so much Allied propaganda painting Ariosophy as morbidly racist, but the reality is that many Volkisch-spiritual organizations such as the Germanen-Orden, the Edda Society, as well as Thule and Vril, had a comprehensive knowledge of many ancient cultures and their mythologies, and a healthy respect for the Lore of solar cultures worldwide.

It also may have been a common belief in at least some of these circles, that every solar-centric culture around the planet was the successor to a society founded by a few Aryan migrants fleeing the destroyed Thule or Atlantis. It was no coincidence to the Volkisch mystics of the early 1900s that nearly all major solar cultures throughout history were also great farmers and great builders of stone monuments, nearly all of them circular or pyramidal, with the circles tracking the sun's motion and the pyramids representing its power. It was also no coincidence in their view that all such cultures also had a mirror image, the Black Sun, representing the forbidden connections of death and birth in the underworld unseen by human eyes - we see only the zenith of the Sun's progress, not the nadir.

In general these were the primary sources of Black Sun material in the 1920s and 1930s. There is little in the written Germanic lore that references the Black Sun. However a cyclical Indo-European understanding of the sunwheel as wheel of time was seen as important to Germanic mystics, and so this forms the fourth source of solar Lore:

4. The Germanic Lore (Eddas, Sagas, Nibelunglied, Beowulf, etc.) Here the Völuspá was considered the most important text due to actually mentioning a black sun, then the Hávamál, as its account of the Odinic Journey resembles the Aztec concept of the Black Sun in the underworld, transformatively. Where there were not obvious proofs for an Ariosophical concept in Germanic texts, German translations of ancient eastern Aryan texts such as the Avesta were consulted. The Vedas and the Mahabharata were also well-known in these circles, and it is alleged that Tibetan texts regarding the underworld were also studied.

In the first instance, there were plenty of old Renaissance-era texts to draw from. However these were taken in with a view towards purifying them of contradictory and (supposedly) kabbalistic material.

In a text ascribed to Marsilio Ficino three suns are described: black, white, and red, corresponding to the three most used alchemical color stages. “The body must be dissolved in the subtlest middle air: The body is also dissolved by its own heat and humidity; where the soul, the middle nature holds the principality in the colour of blackness all in the glass: which blackness of Nature the ancient Philosophers called the crows head, or the black sun.

The black sun is used to illuminate the dissolution of the body, a blackening of matter, or putrefaction of the ignoble or impure husk in the brightly illuminated German grimoire Splendor Solis, and Johann Mylius’s Philosophia Reformata.

The Dark Sun page in Splendor Solis. Note the butterflies.

In the second view, Jungian archetypes were viewed as tools or keys to unlocking the inner states of man as defined by Aryan societies in the past.

In the third view, the Atlantean theory dominated. The Black Sun became a metaphor for a hidden knowledge or energy that had been lost, leading to the decline of man. In this context, the mythology of the Maya and Aztecs was seen as a far-removed dilution of an Atlantean solar culture brought to its shores by ancient Aryan explorers in much the same way as the Abgallu raised the Mesopotamians to a major world culture. In this, the Ariosophists found many parallels between Aryan mythology and at least a fraction portion of the New World mythologies.

The Black Sun in Mesoamerican mythology has many mystical meanings, among them it is connected to the solar god Quetzalcoatl and his penetration in the Underworld through the west door after his daytime passage in the sky. For the Aztecs there were two suns, the young Day Sun and the ancient Dark Sun, which is unseen by the naked eye, but nonetheless is the greater of the two, and exerts its pull on the Day Sun. Some scholars regard the mythological Black Sun as a primal mother of all, it is both tomb and womb. This way, it is the oneness that uniformly integrates unawareness, death, and yet an expectation of fertility. This is remarkably similar to both the Germanic cult of Nerthus as well as our modern understanding of the galactic center.

Entrance to Nerthuz                              Entrance to Itzpapalotl

The Aztecs associated the passage of the Black Sun, on its nightly journey through the underworld with the image of a butterfly. The butterfly, in turn, is an archetypal symbol of the transcendent soul (it was also seen as such in Germany for centuries, hence its presence on Beethoven's grave long with Jormundgandr/Ourboros), transformation and rebirth, and it was also seen in the figure of the frightening earth goddess Itzpapalotl, the "Obsidian Butterfly," that took souls during solar eclipses, while the Aztec underworld was the eternal dwelling place of the souls (i.e. Helheim).

According to the Codex Ríos, the underworld was made of nine layers (the primal number of the cosmos in Aryan mythology as well). The first level was the Earth's surface, which also had the entrance that gave access to the other eight lower levels.

The connection with the Black Sun is also ascribed to the god Tezcatlipoca, son of the primordial god Ometeotl who was a god of dualities (which parallels Buri). Dark Tezcatlipoca, as he was known, was one of the Five Suns of the creation myth of some Nahua peoples; he was known as “Dark” because he was cloaked and rarely revealed himself to people, and ruled over the north, winter, night, sorcery, and judgment (parallels Odin/Vayu-Vata). Another interpretation holds that the sun god Huitzilopochtli crossed the underworld during the night bestowing “light” or new life to “lost” souls whose names had been forgotten (again, parallels with the inhabitants of Hel, and the steady cycle of reincarnation towards Valhalla in the Armanen understanding of the Eddas). However, he demanded blood as payment for his work (which parallels the practice of offering Blot on behalf on ancestors). Before his nightly effort, Huitzilopochtli was accompanied from zenith to setting by the Cihuapipiltins, the souls of women who had died in childbirth, which then reappeared as crepuscular moths on Earth (parallels moths being associated with Odin as symbols for both ravens and Valkyries; a point which Tolkien also made use of in the cloaked Gandalf imagery).

At archaeological scenes, the Plumed Serpent shows a man beneath a black sun within a yellow sun. In this manner the spinning of the sun and black sun shows a wheel crossing with an obfuscatory motion where four black rays move out of four yellow rays. According to some authors, these sets of four rays relate to the four cardinal points and the four quarters, they represent the governance held by the gods over the human race since its infancy, as well as the annual rotation of the heavens, and the universal rulership portrayed in the great dance called "Mitotiliztli," which reproduces the appearance of a wheel.

Now where else have we seen a solar symbol with four rays rotating like a wheel?

Note the solar cross and feathered serpents in the Aztec version. On the right is an Anglo-Saxon brooch.

Triple this (clearly for the Armanic understanding of Arising, Being, and Passing towards New Arising) and you get...

... the twelve spinning rays of the Black Sun.

In the fourth instance, the Black Sun became emblematic of the Odinic Journey itself. For one must awaken to one's own inner darkness, to reshape into a being taking ownership of his destiny. The Black Sun is hence both a symbol of death and rebirth, for before every great transformation and ascendance, comes a great sacrifice, a great renunciation of what has been holding you back. This holds true for both an Armanist or a historical Runic approach, as well as for a modernist mystic one.

It is not a symbol for everyone, but the true reason for this is internal rather than external. Those who prefer a quick fix in life, or even believe that another can offer it, need not pursue this symbol. When fully implemented, it is the Singularity - the point of no return.

The question to be asked with this symbol, is: what do I have to sacrifice, to achieve those things I truly desire? What part of my old self do I have to sacrifice, myself to myself, so that a superior self can emerge unshackled? And what must I cast off forever in order to do so?

And you aren't fooling anyone with your shilling for "cargo packing", we know what sort of live "cargo" you traffic illegally and non-consensually from Iran, Russia, Georgia, Tajikistan and other Indo-European countries, whenever you aren't trying to destroy what's left of their cultures from within by flooding both Europe and Asia with your takfiri/Wahhabi treason. Please leave and take your scams somewhere more herder-archetype oriented.

  4. I've re-read this article just now and I see that it is one of the most exhaustively written essays on the topic of the Black Sun, perhaps THEE best written - even if some words will always remain unwritten and untought.
The sheer amount of data makes it wise to study it in two or even three consecutive sessions, incorporating a brief meditative pause each time, at least for those who are not accomplished mental workers. The symbol itself is extra-heavy, little wonder then the reactions are so strong.
The reward arrives after the repeated reading(s) - and is a consequence of the fact that here the Pan-Indo-Aryan perspective is presented, the particular forte of the writer of this excellent Blog. Germanic and Slavic tribes had not only much in common, once upon a time, but they were respect-bound to one another, especially on the level of priests, runemasters, and tribal leaders - until the influence from "Aisengaard" arose.
Not only that, the history in question was written down in books that were treated as holy. The few remnant pages usually "disappeared" with the arrival of ambasadors of 'our lord and savior.'
Ancient Serbian kings have hidden their sacred books into a particular mountain, a type of Balkanic Unterberg, where they are guarded night and day by Death herself, they are said to be preserved in a type of wax or a special kind of bee-honey. When Ragnarokk is at long last over, but not sooner, people will re-discover them, having regained the memory that is necessary to read the language and decipher the runic letters those books were written in. Thus the legends and prophets say.

    1. This is very interesting... some of my ancestors in Gorgan and Semnan say the same thing about the Caspian "tree-runes". The full meaning is hidden, they say, but with the return of Vidar it will be revealed (yes, I said Vidar - his name also exists in Old Persian, some powerful men of the Empire were named after him, the Greeks knew of them and recorded the name as "Hydarnes").

The tree-runes are as old as Zarathustra's time, maybe older. And they are basically stacked bindrunes of Ka and Man runes in different orders, much like the Norse glyph-runes.

The black sun has many levels of power and meaning, while this article was some work, it just scratches the surface. Like the Voluspa, there are also other prophecies of the black sun. For the village elders in Gorgan (wolf-town) said that although the yellow sun rises in the east, but the black sun - when we finally leave the wolf-age and return to an age where it is visible - it rises... in the NORTH!

    2. Cyrus, forgive me, but that particular photograph of the Bismarck monument with the Swastika and the 12-spoked Black Sun does seem like it were an addition made later than 1906. Are there any other photographs of it? This question and this topic are immensely important to all of us that respond so strongly to its unfathomable call.

    3. Unfortunately I do not know of any other pictures. But it's possible this isn't the only Sonnenrad on the Bismarck monument. But it may indeed be as old as 1906. This wall is INSIDE the base of the monument, protected form the elements, and you must remember this monument was not damaged by bombing the way so many other old structures in Germany were. Because this swastika/sonnenrad was pre-Hitler, the local town council were able to convince the Allies not to deface it. It's actually not that hard to preserve such a thing from that long ago, as long as it's indoors, which this symbol is. Consider that most of St. Petersburg's winter palace murals and gold-plating work have been perfectly preserved despite the communists tracking mud and cigarette smoke all over the place in 1917 - because the craftsmanship was so good that the walls only needed to be washed.

  5. P.S. By the above "Aisengaard" I didn't have Asgard in mind, those are two different locations entirely.

  6. Most interesting! Tree-runes? That are basically bindrunes of Ka + Man??
Are they extant? Where can one inspect their likeness and, perhaps, find out more? I've heard of Ogham but Tree-runes?

    1. They were mostly carved in wood in northern Iran where there was ancient trade with Germanic and Slavic tribes (amber for steel, mostly). But are more of an oral tradition than anything else, these were similar in shape to Ogham but used no horizontal lines, so they look like trees or like stacked Man and Ka runes. It is said that they were used to encode various sounds and letters of Middle Persian (Pahlavi) language, but were also used for Semnani language which is a mix of neolithic Iranian and Germanic languages. This is mostly a secret language today, one cannot learn it from books and it is passed down within the family. In fact both the Shah regime and the Islamic regime have used it as a spy-code language for secret agents because it is so mysterious. The tree-runes "khat-shajari" are similar to Norse "hahalruna" glyph runes.

Here is a link to one person's interpretation of the tree-runes, though I disagree on some points:

1-Surtur is the binary star of the Sun? Or is the binary companion of the Sun another thing yet?

2-Ellen and Romans and Indians had the concept of Black Sun?

3-Shiva is the Black Sun in Hinduism?

4-Can you explain what the Ark is really about the hyperboreans and how did it end in Egypt?
The Arche Emerald Tables have been made up in Ireland?
And how did they end up in Jewish hands?

I ask for clarifications and articles on it.

    1. Interesting questions. The answers may surprise you.

      1. Surtur is not the Black Sun per se, Surtur is one name for the Prime Mover of cosmic time, creation and destruction. A sort of reality beyond the Aesir and even the runes, if you will. However, the Black Sun is a symbol of Surtur's power in miniature. There are many Black Suns, many Black Holes, in many galaxies. Our own Black Sun, the galactic center, is one of these - but it's not our yellow sun's binary. It's billions of times more massive than any star. Also this is only the physical Black Sun, the metaphysical one is a transcendent energy.

If the sun had a binary companion star, we would either be able to see it, or if it was a dark "brown dwarf" companion then we could at least detect its radio waves. There are millions of independent (i.e. not government-owned) astronomers who could have detected anything the size of a star by either its effects on other bodies, or by a radio signal from its internal radioactive decay. The equipment needed for it isn't very fancy. Keep in mind, rumors of "Nibiru" or a dark binary companion are mostly doomsday scams invented by zionists like Zechariah Sitchin to cause panic and sell snake-oil.

      2. Who are these "Ellen" you refer to? As for Romans, they probably understood the Black Sun in a metaphysical sense, but as they were a more materialistic culture than the Germans, Slavs, Iranians, and other "barbarians", Rome did not have any sort of temples to the Black Sun, even Mithraism (which venerates the yellow sun) was a late import to Rome. India did not have a concept of the Black Sun after the Brahmanic takeover, but before that it might have.

      3. Shiva has nothing to do with the Black Sun. In Hindiusm, Shiva was always a lunar deity, as were nearly all the Daevas, associated with herding and lunar cycles. The solar deities, the Asuras (Aesir) were rejected and banned by the Brahmins in most parts of India (the Brahmins were not Aryans, but rather, Turanids who stole and perverted Aryan culture for their own ends). Solar Asura-worship in India has been dead since about 600 BCE. The Black Sun does not appear in modern Hindu scriptures.

      4. I never claimed that hyperboreans had an 'ark'. Are you referring to the Ark of the Covenant, or the Tabernacle? It was in Jewish hands because Jews built it – to embody concepts that no self-respecting Runer should touch with a ten-foot-pole. It has nothing to do with Hyperborea or Thule, let alone Ireland (by the way, Ireland's Latin name is Hibernia, not Hyperborea). Emerald Tablets are a Hermetic rumor, nobody has proven they exist, and any relation with the Ark is fantasy. Today the only people claiming to possess the Ark are Ethiopians, and if so, it clearly hasn't done them much good.

Again, beware there is a lot of disinformation out there, the attempts to tie the Ark or other Tanakhic artifacts to Aryan cultures is among the most pernicious types, as it's designed to waste our time and energy. Whether the emerald tablets were real or not, has no impact on the Runic path. The wisdom of Odin does not depend on precious objects or lost jewels, certainly not those of herder cultures. Most Hermetic literature is a confused mess, consuming a large portion of a man's life and getting him nowhere, even if 5% of its ideas come from noble sources. Look at what happened to John Dee.

Interestingly though, the sort of wild goose-chase dialectical ideas marketed by Kabbalists, Freemasons, and Hermeticists to intellectuals and rulers throughout history, knowingly or unknowingly, didn't end up freeing man from earthly imperfections - but they did open the way for herder charlatans to infiltrate governments, instigate bloody revolutions and wars, and control banks, currencies, media and global trade.

    3. Do not worry Ljubo, I think he is just a bit confused. And maybe his English is not very good?

There are a lot of tricksters spreading disinformation on the internet about things like Ark of Covenant and Egyptian mystery schools, and this fellow seems to have been tricked... (and while these things probably did exist, they have no connection to Runes, and no real relevance to this blog). It appears this guy is one of those "mix and match" occultists who think all mythologies are 100% interconnected.

For example, he connects the Ark with Ireland, so he seems to subscribe to "British Israelite theory" which is complete nonsense. Or his confusion of the Black Sun with a "binary companion" for the solar system, shows he probably fell for Zechariah Sitchin's "Nibiru 2012" scam, which distorts Mayan and Sumerian mythology, and resulted in a lot of gullible people selling their homes to crooks for pennies thinking the world was going to end.

Notice how the people behind these "end of the world" predictions are nearly always either Jews (Sitchin, Velikovsky) or fanatically believe in Judaic demonology (Erich von Daniken) - they are NEVER the native peoples whose mythologies they claim to quote! The Mayans and Sumerians didn't even believe in an "end of the world", they believed in cyclical time. There are over a million Maya alive today who could tell you this, they still use their old calendar and most of their ancient rites, and none of them ever fell for Sitchin's "2012 apocalypse" crap. It's doubtful even Sitchin believed his own lies, as such apocalypse scams are tailor-made for Christian consumption.

While there was some cultural interaction between different populations, the amount of overlap in metaphysics between Aryan and non-Aryan cultures has been minimal at best. It's really disappointing that some people expect to be taken seriously as esoteric or occult students, regardless of their preferred tradition, when they start saying things like "Yggdrasil is the tree of Sephiroth" or "Mjolnir is the Ark of the Covenant". It just shows they have no clue about how cultures evolved.

I even see some people claiming to be serious Heathens (not runers necessarily, but regular "Asatruar") and at the same time claiming that Odin is Shiva, or Thor is Indra. This is truly embarrassing (and some of these people even claim to be "folkish"!). Don't they realize that Shiva and Indra came from an invasive Turanid pantheon, just like the many-armed and neon-hued chaos gods of the Mongolians and Tibetans? The real Indo-Aryan equivalents of Odin and Thor are Vayu-Vata and Vire-Thragna. Hence why they have similar names and are called Asuras (same root as 'Aesir'). They have no connection with the Turanid lunar 'Daevas' like Shiva and Indra which dominate modern (post-Vedic) Hinduism.

Indeed it's likely that many of the people spreading this "everything is the same" disinformation (you know, the types who claim Runes are part of Kabbalah or Egyptian alchemy) are either scammers trying to sell you a blue pill, or simply people with disorganized thoughts and no clear direction. A lot of alien conspiracy devotees tend to be the same way. It unfortunately makes all occult researchers look like deranged kooks.

    6. Serrano, like everyone of his era, didn't have access to as much information as we do now. (That doesn't mean it's all good information, but nonetheless there is a lot more to sift through).

Serrano was a very powerful writer, but like Savitri Devi he fell into the paradox of knowing that Hindu mythos had some Aryan origins, but was unable to find their pure form. Serrano and Savitri probably assumed the modern Hindu depictions of the Daevas were just corrupted dravidian superstitions - they sincerely believed that the Daevas and the caste system were Aryan, and it's not really their fault since they didn't have access to a lot of the revisionist research that we do now - plus they really didn't have a lot of good Avestan/Zoroastrian material translated at hand, which could have set the record straight about what the Daevas really were.

There are some caves in Khotan region where eastern Aryan and Turanid cultures intermingled, and you can see the Aryans depicted their gods in their own image, i.e. normal Irano/Slavic skin tones, one pair of arms, a noble youthful face, clothed in fine brocade, etc... but RIGHT NEXT TO THAT there are cave paintings of the Daevas (Turanid gods) like Rama and Shiva, blue and purple skin, snake tongue and ten arms, half naked, wearing animal skins and claw necklaces like a stone age hunter. Hindus today claim to be vegans, but they still depict Shiva wearing tiger pelts and claw bracelets. So in these caves you can see how different Vayu-Vata and Shiva really are!!!

Most people don't realize Hinduism isn't really one religion, it's a mishmash of many different ones. There are three primary elements that have played a role in its history.

First is the Aryan element, the Asuras or solar gods. These include Vayu-Vata (Vili-Ve-Wotan), VireThragna (Thor), Tivastr (Teiwaz-Tyr), Priya (Freyja), Priwar (Freyr), Svaha (Saga), Shaadi (Skadi) and so on. Note that these were all classed as Asuras even though in Norse mythos some of them are Vanir or noble Jotnar like Skadi.

The second element is the Turanid gods, the Daevas (ironically the word where we get both "devil" and "divine" from!) The Daevas, like Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Kali, Durga, Indra, etc. went through several incarnations. Originally they had different names. Shiva was “Rudra” in the Vedic period when the Brahmins plundered India and set up the castes. Later the Brahmins added yet more names for their gods to bribe others into their fold, i.e. Pavarti was also called Shakti (a Turanid corruption of Shaadi/Skadi) in order to trick surviving Aryans.

The third element is the Dravidian gods, of which there are thousands, several for each town and village in the south of India. Most of them are depicted much the same as the Daevas (many arms, garish colors, serpentine features). In fact some some Tamil Hindus claim the exaggerated style of Daeva sculptures started with their Dravidian ancestors and was copied by the Brahmins.

Thus when you realize this, the lie that "all of Hinduism is Aryan" becomes patently clear. Only a small portion of the gods that India has worshipped in its history were part of an Aryan pantheon and Ayran religion, with an Aryan view of Karma and Aryan ethics. That religion has been dead and demonized in India for over 2,000 years. The Brahmins only kept those parts of it which they could twist to their own ends, i.e. Karma and the Yugas, which they distorted to keep the population docile.

Again, if people like Serrano and Savitri had access to some of what we know today (i.e. linguistic studies showing many Sanskrit words are of non-Aryan origin, as opposed to Prakrit/Pali), they probably would have reached the same conclusions as I have here. I don't blame them for what they could not have known. But if anything, the appearance of modern Brahmins (who boast that they've never mixed with other castes/tribes for 2000 years) should have at least made them reconsider:

    1. No worries, we know that most Runers are seeking to be understood rather than pre-judged. Once in a while people who face struggles will witness a breakdown or see things that appear unjust or don't make sense. When this happens, it is interestiny you mention the Ur-way, because Ur is the rune I focus on in times of frustrations. Is calms down anger or panic, but Ur is where the real healing takes place.

The rest of the Havamal is very helpful too (not just the rune verses), especially when dealing with personal relationships. Nearly every challenge regarding false friends, bad guests, flighty lovers and the tricks your own ego can play on you, are dealt with. There is no guilt-tripping with Odin, only smooth, practical (and sometimes sneaky) advice that WORKS.

It's very telling, really. The churches tell us that Jesus came to earth in human form to suffer torture and death as "payment" for mankind's "collective sin", whether you like it or not (this isn't what really happened, but so goes the orthodox tale). But Odin tells us that he came to earth in human form to experience LIFE, both its good and its bad, to teach those of us willing to learn as individuals, how to fix our own follies!

Thus we see the Old Ways really are for re-building the integrated human being, in which body and soul are not artificially divided, and neither the sensual nor the spiritual is a cause for shame. At the end of the day, the false "matter/spirit" dichotomy and self-hate present in herder ideologies is what ultimately drives many of our foes into such bizarre and unhealthy directions while at the same time they try to impose their soul-repressive ways on the rest of the world through countless scam ideologies of mass-psychosis (be it celibate churches, coercive commissariats, suicidal salafism, or the cult of consumption). Thus when the rest of the world says "why me?!" and tries to push us into thinking the same, we should instead say "what shall I learn from This?" because the Aryan spirit believes in the improvability of man, without recourse to deceptive excuses.

      Alaf Hal Urdaz.

  14. "The installation of the Black Sun mosaic by Hermann Bartels' Marble and Stone Company, possibly assisted by contacts in Greece and Spain, must have taken place before 1979, as the Castle was taken over by the Paderborn Council in 1979..." (K.Young: Third Reich Pilgrim 2nd Ed., p.203; Hermitage Helm Corpusc, Australia 2014.)

    1. It's possible, though, that it was installed long before the Hermann Bartels' Marble and Stone Company. The problem remains though; we don't know who ordered it, or precisely when.

  15. I am sorry, I should have cited the entire paragraph:
"The Black Sun mosaic is made of a green marble, and this particular marble is identified as being of Greek origin, specifically, VERDE ANTICO marble, which is quarried in Larissa, a marble quarry in Thessaly, in Greece. This marble was imported into Germany in the late 1960's by Herman Bartels' MARBLE AND STONE COMPANY, which he estabilished after the war (in 1949). The peculiar and highly prized green serpentine marble was most likely exported from Greece to Germany for the clandestine renovation of Wewelsburg Castle during the Right-Wing military Junta in Greece from 1967-1974. Secret Neo-Nazi organizations were highly active during this period in Europe. Otto Skorzeny, who died in 1975, headed an international construction company, as did Leon Degrelle. The installation of the Black Sun mosaic by Herman Bartels' MARBLE AND STONE COMPANY, possibly assisted by contacts in Greece and Spain, must have taken place before 1979, as the Castle was taken over by the Paderborn Council in 1979 and they were not favourable to the Neo-Nazis, indeed it was most likely that the Paderborn Council took over management at Wewelsburg because of the secret Neo-Nazi activities taking place in the Castle, in order to stop them." (ibid.)

    1. Interesting, so this book claims the green marble mosaic was put there after the war so it was not installed by the SS. But is it possible that this was merely a renovation of an older structure in the floor, perhaps even pre-war? And is there good documentation of who owned or lived in the castle in the 60s and 70s?

  16. Those are all still relevant questions, but my knowledge is limited to the above quote, at least for now.

  17. I've come across a passage that might be relevant to our solar topic:

"The Mythos is where the Archetype dwells and the Sacred Mythos takes form at the Halgadom. Many are not aware that the revered symbol of The Black Sun is a blue-print of the ancient Halgadom."

    (G. von List: 'The Rita of the Ario-Germanen,' introduction (J. Sevnson); presented by The 55 Club, USA 2015.)

What is the Halgadom? Is that the sacred place where the communal meetings (Things) took place?

    1. Glad you asked! The Halgadom is a supremely important place to the Armanen, and Guido von List made mention of it several times in his writings. It is indeed a sacred place, however it was primarily for spiritual ceremonies (i.e. Blots, marriages, coming-of-age rituals, etc.) rather than Things or Moots. Things were usually held in a Great Hall or "longhouse" some distance away.

The way it worked with most ancient Heidevolk was like this:

Each tribe or clan had its own lands, and at the center of these there was a Hof (i.e. a temple building for meditation on the Gods), a Hall (for Things and feasts, sumbels, and the occasional flyting), a Horgr (rock altar for sacrifices, especially mead), and a Halgadom.

The Halgadom was a stone circle, sometimes sunken (as in Carnuntum), sort of like a religious amphitheater. It was circular to represent the Sun, and the turning of the seasons, and depending on the time of year, seasonal rites would be celebrated at different points along the edge of the circle. The center of the circle was where a sacred fire was kept burning for Yule and other important times. In the first neolithic Aryan cultures, the fire was kept burning permanently - something that the Iranian branch preserved well into the Zoroastrian era.

It is rumored that all of the Halgadoms of the Germanic tribes, all being solar circles, with a number of variations (some of stone, wood, or earth, some single and others concentric), were descended from the Ur-Halgadom, that is, the circle of the Aesir themselves in Asgard, and the first earthly copy was that of Ask and Embla in Thule (or Masha and Mashyana in Aryanam Vaejah).
Regardless of where the first Halgadom was, the idea of Halgadom as a sacred sun in microcosm is far more important than a precise geographical location.

There are twelve segments to the Halgadom, representing the solar months. There are also twelve arms on the Black Sun. These represent three swastikas, being the phases of Arising, Being, and Passing away to New Arising. Many stone circles in Germanic and Celtic lands have twelve niches. Stonehenge in England even appears to have had twelve pairs of stone pillars (albeit not arranged in perfectly equal distances). There appear to have originally been a further six pairs of stone pillars in an inner oval inside the outer circle, making a total of... 18! And the earthen circle surrounding the entire complex is divided roughly equidistantly with stones or ruts in six places (Hagal rune).

Indeed, the Black sun is the blueprint of Halgadom in its purest form, i.e. the Asgardian Halgadom from which all earthly ones are based in some way. However as it is a powerful symbol of rune-might, it was originally only revealed to a few, and so earthly halgadoms don't show the full shape of the spiraling arms.

  18. Thank you for the exhaustive answer! How do you happen to know all these things, you seem to be a living encyclopaedia - and I cherish the fact...even as new questions arise all the time. I was, for instance, a bit disappointed when I read Mr. Stephen Flowers' words about the Armanen tradition being marked with "misinterpretations and manipulations of uninformed individuals" as he writes in his Futhark. It was this fact, he says, that made him turn to the "deeper, long hidden power of the Elder Runic Tradition." This coming from a person that is one of the leading lights in Runology, both academic and esotheric! (?) The Elder Futhark lore is so polished it almost hurts one's eyes, but despite of this - do they not feel the power of the Sacred 18, laying low like lions of Truth? On the margin precisely because misunderstood - but made even stronger thereby? With time it can become an ugly thing - to have one's tradition constantly denigrated and put down. And by the very ones who should know better. I was surprised, however, to see that he is a Mazdean priest now (i.e. Flowers)! They have a Church somewhere in the USA, and judging from their website it is a good thing indeed. (Except the Zoroastrian four matras, available on said website, that were recorded by someone who must have been asleep when he recited them, such, at least, was my impression.) Zarathustra is a prophet I acknowledge, and I'd be a Mazdaean myself if I wasn't an (Esoteric) Hitlerist. Or perhaps I could say I am an Esoteric National Socialist with an Odinist alegiance of an Mazdaean bent? Sounds complicated but isn't really. However, the thing is I am seeking the Runes and have little time for aught else, especially after I've given my share of timeand effort to the community (beginning to do some voluntary work of a social-outreach kind, an unexpected gift from the Runes, will do me some good to go out of this room and give/receive some good Energy, hopefully.)
Let me conclude by asking: what is the language that would serve me best if I want to understand the Holy Runes and pertinent Mythology? Is it Old Norse? I am not willing to go to Ljubljana to study at the University anymore, provided they even teach that course, but I understand the Internet can be useful in this sense too.)
Let the Light Eternal eternaly nurture our minds and gather and strengthen all the good people in a common fight against the lie of the Druj, may Ahura Mazda guide the Arkons and not Satan, may the Norns be propitious to us, may the Holy Runes accept and ease our thirst for Wisdom and Power and Beauty, may the world become worthy to have the Führer's perfect Love revealed, may Asha prevail! Hail Victory!

    1. Thanks for the high praise.

I learned what I know over years while studying the largely extinct traditions of my own ancestors, the ancestors of the German rune-masters, more recent developments, and looking for connections.

As for languages, Old Norse may be a good place to start (most erious runers have at least a basic grasp of Old Norse) but it is NOT the "be-all, end-all" that many "reconstructionists" claim it to be. It is equally important to have a good grasp of German, and a bit of Old High German, to really understand some of the deeper messages of Armanism/esoteric runology. Understanding basics of Iranian languages is useful too, because they preserve ancient Aryan root-words with deep Armanen and Aesir significance.

Stephen Flowers has had an interesting journey. Setian, "Odian", eclectic heathen, then gradually a bit more folkish, the leader of the Rune-Gild, and then suddenly a Mazdean; the first to translate many rare books, willing to tackle controversial subjects, but then abandon them just as quickly. He's made a huge contribution to Runology and to reviving Indo-European magick in general, however I have also seen how his rather incongruous belief in Setianism has damaged his outlook and made him a bit hyper-utilitarian, to the point of dumping Armanen runes just because they don't serve as tools for his own agenda. I am not sure why he made so many jumps in philosophies, or if he simply views them all as merely a means to an end.

I will say this however; Mazdean worldview is an interesting direction to see him go. However, I'm not sure how he goes about determining what parts of Mazdaism or Zoroastrianism to practice; its history is just as convoluted as that of heathenry, if not more so. The Zoroastrian religion itself has gone through more sects and schisms than academia ever seems willing to admit; the one that survives today in Iran and India is markedly different than what Zarathustra himself likely believed, in fact it has many things that he actively fought against (i.e. an almost caste-like hereditary priesthood, a blind obsession with the current orthodoxy, whose precise origins the priests themselves don't fully know - an almost complete abandonment of the Esoteric, and a watering-down of the faith to mere observances).

Unfortunately Zoroastrians are still discouraged by their hierophants from asking too many questions: "why don't we take converts? why do Mubads cover their faces in front of the fire, when there's no proof of ancient Aryans doing so? Why do we treat the fire like some weak, dying pet that needs coddling, while at the same time we say it is a sign of godly power? Can it not destroy contaminants? Why do we obsess over purity of bloodline to the point that we are dying out, when there are Arya-aware Iranians and Europeans looking for a partner, and love what our faith has to offer?"

As a result, people leave this faith, and many are even forming their own "lay man's Zoroastrianism" that doesn't rely on Mubads at all - not a bad first step, but they are barely beginning to look into our ancestors' Esoteric side. It's not for nothing that Persia was famed throughout the world for deep esoteric knowledge, but most of that was suppressed by later generations of Mubads (in Parthian and Sassanid era) who brought a return of orthodoxy and persecuted magick in all forms. Some Parthian clans like Suren-Pahlav remained “heathen” and resisted this change.

    2. I have even heard some Mubads say "we don't accept converts or marry outsiders because we are the pure Aryans". But most of the Mubads I've come across are some of the LEAST Aryan-looking Iranians I've met, many look, walk, and talk more like Turks or Turanid Brahmins. Most of their followers are more Aryan than them! They don't stand proud, they shuffle and hide behind blind tradition, instead of burning with the light of mystic Aryan wisdom. These are not the great warrior-poets and explorers that our epics talk about. No modern mubad acts anything like a Hvushang, or a Kiyumarz, or a Rustam, or even a lesser man of Yore like Kai Kavus. This is the real reason why Zoroastrianism is dying – not because of Islam, not because of western secularism, not because of Christian missionaries – it's dying because its priesthood has choked and neutered the religion and ceased to allow it to be relevant, and has failed to explain to their followers why its traditions are what they are.

They cannot even tell you the origins of the word Arman, or Zurvan, or Ostovar... and these are people claiming to be the “experts” of Iranian heritage. Actually, if you understand Zarathustra's struggle and the reasons for his murder, it will all make sense. The people who took over his faith and became the orthodox Mubads, were the same people who wanted him dead in the first place - the Turanized priesthood of Bactria, hypocrites who followed the ways of the Daevas but concealed it under an Asura-centric cloak. Like the Brahmins, the Mubads call themselves “pure Aryans” - to cover up their real origins and agenda. Even if they didn't look like Turanids in disguise, these days I would still be suspicious of anyone boasting to be a “pure Aryan” thousands of years after the Iron age disasters.

Like in many faiths, the previous corrupt herderist orthodoxy seized control of Zoroastrianism, shunting aside or outright killing its founding prophet and his family. It's the same reason Christianity fell under neo-Judaic Paulian rule and ended up exterminating its own (gnostic) founders, and why most of Islam fell prey to neo-Judaic Sunnis and was misled into exterminating most of its founders at Siffin and Karbala, and are still trying to exterminate what's left of the older esoteric variants (Shia and Sufi) of the faith. To this day Sunnis still hate Iranian Shia mosques because they incorporate Swastika, Odal, and other esoteric Aryan motifs of our ancestors into the tilework.

At the end of the day, the whole "monotheism vs. polytheism" dichotomy is a distraction. What's really going on is a war between orthodoxy and the esoteric. Even in a situation where both are monotheist, the esoteric is still targeted for destruction by the herder orthodox, and when both are polytheist, the same thing happens (look at the Diocletian period in Rome).

One thing I would say is, when mentioning Ahura Mazda (who is Hroptatyr, the teaching incarnation of Vayu-Vata or Vili-Ve-Wotan) it does not make sense to mention "satan" as his enemy. The foe of Mazda is Angra Mainyu or Ahriman, the spreader of Druj (Angrbodha in old norse is from a related root). We should avoid using the word "satan" or other Tanakh-jargon, especially as the hebrew word "satan" originally was not a literal being, but a catch-all label meaning "adversary", and from the Jewish point of view, guess who is the "adversary" - anyone who refuses to be their sheep. That's how their tool, the Paulian Church, killed so many noble Heidevolk - by labeling them as "satans" and dividing brother against brother. My own ancestors also paid dearly in blood for ignoring this wordplay.

I was taught many things by the holy ones of Asha. May the Asha and wisdom of Vayu-Vata, radiance of Fravar, strength of Tondar and courage of Tir be with you. Asha Svarni, Arya-chara. Sal und Sig!

  19. At least Flowers estabilished, in one of his works (Freemasonry and the Germanic Tradition), that Freemasonry grew from purely Teutonic origins. But his call towards what he (correctly?) perceives to be a dying movement I condone not. Freemasonry is but one of the jewish Trojan horses.

    1. Freemasonry is complicated because it is not one organization but many, and absorbed many different influences. It's true that there were at one time, purely Teutonic freemasons. But this was in medieval times when they were still largely stonemason and engineer craft guilds, with the Roman "collegia fabrorum" as prototype. Modern masonic lodges are much more eclectic, and since the Renaissance this has been the case, with Rosicrucians and other groups entering and then changing the lodges as non-stoneworkers joined for economic reasons.

Another issue is that since the French Revolution, the largely atheistic "Grand Orient" super-lodge has gradually taken over most of the masonic groups in continental Europe (whereas the conservative and openly Judeo-Christian UGLE controls most of the lodges of the UK and USA and their former colonies). The Grand Orient is one of many vehicles for promulgating “left-Talmudism”, Marxist and communist policies in European governments. Lenin and Trotsky were both members of "Art Et Travail" lodge, which was under the Grand Orient umbrella. With Grand Orient's takeover of masonic organizations in Germany and Austria, the death knell of "Teutonic" masonry was sounded, though it was already dying long before.

The big flaw in freemasonry was twofold. First, it didn't actually tell members what the symbols meant - leaving that up to informal consensus, which could change over years as new people joined, and thus their symbols meant whatever the richest faction wanted it to mean. Records of medieval lodges in the Continent are hard to come by - many of them were lost. The second, is that many of the symbols themselves were taken from Judaic books, in an attempt to create a universal system of magick (there is no such thing). Because Germanic lands had already long been forced to accept Christianity, the door was open for all sorts of Judaic propaganda to filter in, disguised as secrets of some supposed hero praised in the Tanakh, which the Church had told people was "the truth". Although the Church did not openly condone freemasonry, it created the conditions which allowed its Judaization.

Essentially most of the early "speculative" masons were play-acting at being "biblical chosen people" with their references to Solomon and the Ark of the Covenant. This of course provided an open door for actual Jews to get into these groups and affect a total conversion. Interestingly, according to Rudonlf von Sebottendorf, some of the older "Templar" masonic traditions actually got many of their original rites from the Assassins and other Muslim secret societies they ran into in the Middle East, even using Arabic words in some of the rituals. But after the gradual Jewish (and converso-Jesuit) takeover of the lodges in the 1600s, the ideas of Nizaris, Sufis, and Assassins were completely stamped out and replaced with Talmudic concepts and imagery.

It was tragic loss for honest European occultists, because the secret Sufi brotherhoods (not the rather silly popular ones today that are commercialized) actually preserved more Solar/Aryan ideas and metaphors than they're given credit for. Not really surprising given that most of them either started or found refuge in Iran and were in close proximity to the Mazdean underground. Even the "whirling dervishes" in Turkey, who see their spinning as "orbiting the All" like a passive slave, are merely a 3rd-rate dilution of the original Samavi dervishes in Iran, who correctly saw the spinning movement as the fiery rotation of the Sun, not the orbits of its planets. In place of servile devotionals, they saw the spinning exercises as awakening the latent solar spark in man, as the living Fyrfos in Man! This is what the "heretic" Mansur Hallaj meant when he said "I am Truth", and was put to death for it. He had rediscovered an Aryan ethos that Asha (truth) is not locked away forever in God or Heaven, but can also manifest in YOU!

  20. I always liked Mansur Al-Hallaj; I cried when I first read about him: "Ana' l'Haq" - I am the Truth. Some years after that, I'd read about a contemporary Saint of the Christian Orthodox Church that somehow reminded me of Mansur; his name was Vukašin, and he ended up in Jasenovac, the NDH (Croatian) concentration camp, where he, as he was being cynically asked by a guard to "repent" - during the very awful process of being horrifically massacred, wherein he lost his ears, his nose, and finally his eyes - responded calmly to his executioner: "son, you just do your work."
It is interesting to observe, just what tiny pieces of information are sometimes preserved by the collective memory of history. In this case, the name of the kiler was also preserved, but I only remember his surname: Friganović.
He lost his mind soon afterwards, due to "alcoholism" - he tried to escape his conscience by visiting a psychoterapist but people shunned him, he even admitted he sees Vukašin everywhere he looks, whether awake or asleep; but he couldn't sleep much, or even at all.
From executioner he went to victim and worse.

"Whoso doesn't learn about Unity from Iblis is a heretic" is another of Mansur's immortal utterances. I hope I paraphrased it correctly.
Sufism is one of the best things in this tattered world, even the watered-down version we westerners are familiar with. Its Numen is simply incredible, there the Light shines so fiercly it truly can inspire even martyrdom in/for one's soul - and the whole thing doesn't feel dis-similar from being married to one's true love. Such, at least, is the spirit of their poetry. It is interesting to see that even modern Arabic poetry sometimes, but not too often, manages to invoke faint echoes of this same "fatalistic" element.
As to the phenomenon of Freemasonry, forgive me but - you do sound like a brother, your words do!?
(Not that I mind, nor is it mine to inquire, I am just sharing my personal perpective:)
I was part of "irregular" masonry for sixteen years, of the infamous Ordo Templi Orientis of Aleister Crowley fame, and for a time even OTOA (Franco-Haitian), so I have some sort of idea about it. What you say is true, there be many paralel sources and interpretations, but the symbols have different levels of interpretation, even as most, if not all, symbols do. Ultimately, however, it is all about phalicism, with the ultimate "holy of holies" split in two, anatomically so: the lower mysteries employ the Moon, the higher employ the Sun. This is not even secret anymore, of course, this is just theory. I see it as a sort of "Babylonian" legacy. Or perhaps Pike's Paladinist degenaration?
I prefer the Sufi Path of Seeking the Beloved, the Dry Path of Tantra, as Don Miguel Serrano would says, the Troubadour Path.
It is much nobler, and kinder, and gentler, and way more beautiful. It is also stronger.
The people who practice the masonic "kalachakra" tend to become insane, slaves and cokeheads. The women soon become so obviously dried up and full of sorrow, if they bear children they but rarely raise them up themselves, thus the wound of the whore goddess is perpetuated again and again.
I'd rather think of the Volva manual I am in the process of reading. It says there (Kari C. Tauring) that sacrificing his eye was just one part of Odin's initiation; the other part consisted of him having to learn the female magic of Seidr from Freya (and also Frigga) - because he needed to balance the ugly agression that he displayed to some/one of the Vanir women.
Kari T. writes: "The character of Odin defies even his own standards as set down in Havamal." (??)

"Die Liebe ist die grösste Kraft die alles schaft."

    1. This is precisely why a solid esoteric understanding of the Runes is essential to anyone who really wants to dedicate a significant amount of time to this path.

As we have seen with all those other systems, there are many frauds and distractions that grow up around the authentic schools.

I have never actually been a Mason. But I have known a few, and am familiar with many of their basic ideas (much of it is not so secret anymore, you can even buy many of the books from the Anglo-American system like Pike's, Duncan's, and Mackey's books - the rituals of GOdF and GLdF and other continental lodges are much harder to come by). I have met a few OTO members, and even one who also claimed to be in Caglistro's infamous "Memphis-Misraim" rite, who I made sure were not aware of my true esoteric preferences and heritage. They are much like you said; suffering from drug addiction and just plain deranged. I find that this is largely due to their heavy use of kabbalah and the Goetia.

Those are some very corrupt energies they are dealing with. I would not doubt that they are in some ways similar to the Utgard Jotnar which the Eddas describe as slippery deceptions beyond most beings' ability to pin down. It is a difficult thing to uncover, due to the names different cultures have given to their bugbears. However it seems that many of the same beings we understand in the Aryan traditions, were also known (less objectively) to the Mesopotamian kingdoms. The Sumerians confused two very different cultures together - the farmer Abgallu led by Enlil (Aryan) and the herder Enkians (Turanid-Canaanite hybrid). The Sumerians were, at the time, relatively primitive and thus saw the two more advanced cultures as one indistinct mass "Annunaki". The reality was rather different. Enlil wanted to improve the Sumerians, Enki wanted to enslave them. The long and complicated conflict between these two opposing races eventually resulted in the disasters known as “Gilgamesh's Flood” and the “Tower of Babel” conflict.

These two different lineages were in time obscured, and their leaders collectively venerated in Sumer, and the semitic kingdoms that succeeded it (Babylon, Asshur, Nippur, Akkad) as gods. But these peoples actually had gods of their own. The Abgallu honored the Aesir - primarily Freyr/Fravar, Tyr/Tir and Vavu-Vata/Wotan. But also others, like the goddess Ostara, who was also adopted by the Mesopotamians as "Ishtar" - a name clearly of foreign origin relative to other deities of Iraq. These were all originally solar farmer deities. By contrast, the Enkians were a lunar herder culture, hence their contribution of Utgard-like figures such as Tiamat the devourer, Marduk the cowherd and their extreme brutality and plunder towards vassals, which filtered down to Assyria as a blood-drenched slave kingdom.

It is also known that the Abgallu venerated Ameretat (Idunna) and Hauvertat (Hulda), as blessers of immortality and health, being manifest in magick practices geared towards these ends. The Iranid branch thus focused most heavily on medicinal magick, leading to their alternate meaning of Asatru (Asha-Daru) being the Medicine of the Gods first and foremost. These two otherwise minor healing goddesses were also adopted by the Babylonians, and their names filter down to us as Marut and Harut in the Arabic traditions, who taught magick to Babylon only after warning them not to use it ungratefully (kufr) or dishonestly (fisq). The meanings of these words, and the identities of Harut and Marut, have been somewhat altered in the Islamic context and with the evolution of Arabic itself, but these were their original meanings.

The Persian months Mordad and Khordad are also named for them. There are also months named for Freyr and Tyr, as well as (apparently) Jord or Erde as "Arda-vahishta".

    2. The Masonic division of lower self as lunar and higher self as solar is a corruption. It didn't come from Pike, but from the Rosicrucians who entered masonry long before him. The sensual mysteries are not lunar, nor are they "low" to the Heidevolk - they are pure black-sun, the exchange of Freyja and Odhr, or Odin and Saga as secret lovers. Runes and Seidhr in synthesis, fused as one gets Gibor by fusing two tilted and mirrored Os-runes. This is a little-known secret, but the Armanen did use several forms of sex-magick for the manifesting of that Highest Rune in its tertiary level.

It was perfectly natural, and did not involve any sort of torture, drugs, or humiliation. But today "mainstream" occultists simply can't imagine this without getting all sorts of twisted B-movie fetishes and goetic demons into their heads. Hence why Crowley-type groups produce so many bizarros, while the Armanist and Vril-type groups tended to produce enlightened beings. Yes, these groups did have sexual magick practices, as did ancient Heathens, though obviously they were not public and not milked for "shock value" in any way. There is indeed a Germanic tradition of "tantric" magick (the Volsunga Saga practically says as much), but this is very different from the distorted practices used by Shaiva-Tantra or the kabbalists/sabbateans/masonic offshoots. It is a synthesis to experience direct divinity through the giving and receiving of energy, not a master-slave relationship - and it must be emphasized, not all "tantric" magick is created equal.

    3. Tertiary level? So there are (at least) three levels to each rune???
It makes sense, in a sense!
Some people still consider, and teach others thus, the ancient Sumerians to have been Aryans, but your description makes more sense, there were and are two different streams, and two opposing systems of ethics and methodologies.
But how can you be so well versed in the Armanen system AND be teaching it in an open manner? I had the impression the (very few) Armanists are in Germany, if at all, and not interested in teaching, at least not on a 'grand' scale. Don't get me wrong, I am overjoyed this is the case, I just hope it stays this way, at least long enough for me to fathom the basic elements.
Recently something got me thinking that there is big need out there for runic STONES - in order to emit the Healing into the larger kozmos. But risting paper and wood is different than risting stone. Did you ever do it? Or know someone that does it? I am aware the old runestones are still active filth calls for new cleaners. Then there are the rites...what happenes with properly generated energies? Is it possible for them to keep the imprinted And even gain strength over time?

    4. Hail the Aesir! Your questions just keep getting better and better!

Indeed there are at least three levels to each rune. In fact, just by reading "The Secret of the Runes" you will see that there are more than just three meanings to each rune. However they can generally be grouped into three levels of meaning. The highest level was typically reserved for the Armanen, the second for Ostivanen, the lowest for Ingvonen. This did not mean that one was superior to the other in every way, but only more spiritually gifted (and perhaps not as gifted in farming or fighting, though all people in Aryan-derived societies had a baseline skill with them).

Actually when I speak of two different streams in Sumer, I am not talking about true Sumerians at all. Rather, two of the foreign cultures they came into contact with. The original Sumerians were the historical "Ubaid" culture, a hunter/gatherer tribe native to the southern Iraq/Kuwait area, who spoke a language that was neither Semite nor Aryan. Perhaps they may have been related to the Elamites, who also spoke an isolated language, perhaps not. However, some of the Sumerians' art definitely depicted some Aryans, indeed they worshipped the Abgallu Aryans (who came from Dailaman/Dilmun on the Caspian Sea) as gods. The Abgallu were the "fish-men", who form a part of my ancestry. From their king, Anu-Laglaz, whom the Sumerians named Enlil, Sumer learned maths, agriculture, metallurgy, glass-making, astronomy, irrigation - all the arts and sciences of the farming Aryan lifestyle. Now I will speak of a sad tale long hidden by my fish-men ancestors in the town of wolves...

The problems for King Enlil began when the Enkian tribes (Turanid/Canaanite hybrid herder culture) migrated to Ubaid/Sumer from the west. These peddlers and pastoralists also were more advanced than the Ubaid/Sumer culture, but in a very different way from the Abgallu – their wealth and seemingly magickal devices were the fruits of cunning trade, not of their own labor as with the Abgallu. The Enkians (or "Enochians" as some modern Aryanists have guessed the Tanakhic name Enoch was derived from Enki) were a cultural precursor to Jews. Enki's people at first pretended to go along with the Abgallu's plan to develop Sumer into a prosperous farming kingdom and raise the standard of its people. The Abgallu chose Sumer because its people were open to learning a better life and wished to emulate the Aryans. The Abgallu for their part, realized a lot of work would have to be done, both in terms of education and genetic selection, to manifest Aryan-like traits among the Sumerians. But they did not complain, as the Sumerians were at least willing to “become like their gods”.

However, the Enkians planned to sabotage Enlil's noble plan. Great dams had been built to control the flooding Euphrates and irrigate the dry places inland of the river mouth. The Sumerians supported this plan because they wanted to live like the Abgallu. However the plan required highly organized labor, and the Sumerians still lacked the proper training. The Enkians “volunteered” their services, but they were far too few in number to be a sufficient labor force. So the Abgallu imported Zarzians, mountain folk of the Zagros, who had been partially Aryanized by the Abgallu (their legacy lives on in a large part of the Iranian genome today). Zarzians knew the methods of the Abgallu well, so they quickly helped build the canals and dams needed. However many of them were not aware of the true intentions of the Enkians working among them. And yet, my ancestors later asked, could it have been possible that a few of these Zarzians were secretly working for Enki?

    5. As the great earthworks neared completion, Enki and his agents sabotaged them, resulting in broken dikes and huge floods, in which thousands of Zarzians and Sumerians drowned. This was one origin of the "Gilgamesh" and "Noah" flood tales. Afterwards the Enkians and their agents spread rumors among the Zarzian workers, blaming Enlil and the Aryans for ordering inferior-quality building materials and rushing the construction. It was a lie, but a convenient one. Seeds of suspicion were planted in the Zarzian ranks, and as far as common Sumerians watching it all were concerned, it looked like the Enkians were simply part of the Abgallu tribe having a labor dispute with its leader Enlil. The Enkians further acted as dishonest middlemen, charging high interest to one tribe in the other's name, growing rich by pretending to be a neutral third party, while Sumerians and Zarzians festered in mutual hate. Though Sumer's royal family had married Aryans, the houses of their ministers were married into Enkian bloodlines. The Enkians then played their trump card, claiming to be kinsmen of the Abgallu, claiming both groups were “Annunaki”... a fake word the Sumerians swallowed whole. Thus Enki stole credit for Aryan agricultural projects while betraying the true Aryans, blaming Enlil and the Abgallu for the floods, and accusing their restless Zarzian workers of plotting genocide against Sumer.

The result was one of the world's first pre-meditated race wars, in which Sumerians and Zarzians murdered each other's children; the Aryans ended up being wrongly blamed and told to leave Sumer; and the only winners were the Enkians who had seemed to be everyone's friend. The Sumerian survivors were mislead into blackening the name of Enlil as an “arrogant god”, and venerating Enki, Marduk and Tiamat as deities instead. Tiamat was the biggest anti-Aryan insult, whose title secretly means “Devourer of Tir”. Sumer retained Ostara-Ishtar from the Aryans, as the nomadic Enkians had no agricultural goddesses, but Enki's descendants saw to it that her Sumerian depictions were made grotesque and bestial, as a further jab against Aryan aesthetics. This tendency to mock or deform whatever art or beauty they could not abolish, is still alive in the Enkians' spiritual descendants today.

Thus Sumer did become an advanced farming culture, but was robbed of Aryan spirituality; it became trapped, like most gentile civilizations, in a state of arrested growth – materially rich, but spiritually bankrupt, and riven with slavery, injustice, and viewing man as a mere commodity. Thus they learned much knowledge from the Abgallu, but used it with an Enkian mentality.

One of the later projects of the Abgallu was a great tower or Ziggurat, meant as both temple and irrigation engine for the newly built city of Ur. The significance of this name is Aryan, not Sumerian, and as Runers we know something of Ur's true meanings. Ur was a model town being built for the future elite of Sumer, yet its tower was left unfinished: in the chaos that followed Enki's race-war, the Enkians introduced discord into the very languages of Sumer and Zarza, making them sound mutually foul to one another, causing yet more conflict, bringing the tower, and the Aryans' dream of a glittering civilization in Mesopotamia, to an end. This was the true origin of the "Tower of Babel" disaster, which the Enkians' descendants ascribed to the will of their "lord". Later, the Sumerians built a much humbler Ziggurat at Ur, with mud brick rather than the originally planned stone, and the city was a shadow of the Abgallu's plan, with descendants of not just Enlil, but also of Enki, populating nearly every street corner, the latter to bear a bitter, wandering fruit out of Ur in the succeeding ages.

This is a long-hidden tale, and I only reveal it now that “the Slave openly nurses its own Master in the name of freedom”, as my people intended it to remain hidden until this sign came to pass.

    6. Genuine teachers of Armanen runes are largely secretive in Germany for one big reason - Germany has largely been turned against them. Even for most of the postwar period this was not the case, as most Germans back in the 50s in Spiesberger's time (he taught openly) knew that most of the Runers and Mystics were not the "devils" they were made out to be in the allied propaganda of both East and West Germany.

It's true that Spiesberger had to conceal some of the more volkisch aspects of Armanenschaft to teach openly, but this is because the west German government falsely labeled them as hateful (in reality true volkisch thinking does not preach race-hate; quite the opposite - it calls for the improvement of many races and cultures towards the ideals of Aryan traits). However he was still able to teach the runes in large enough groups to justify publishing several books.

Today in Germany things are different. The newer generations are alienated from the truth of their past. They have been taught to hate their grandparents' generation, and anything they may have practiced.

Outside Germany, however... things are generally much easier, there is less censorship (but also more charlatans). There are limits to what I can say in terms of politics or metapolitics. However, teaching the Runes and their spiritual meanings, is not a problem for the most part. As long as it's purely for self-improvement, the establishment doesn't see Armanen Runes, Odinism, or any related practice as a threat, just one more "weird religion" out of many. The average civil servant just assumes you are talking about fantasy or Lord of the Rings anyway.

That said, most of what I write here is NOT high level teachings. There are certain things that can only be taught in person, and others that the seeker must discover on their own. There were yet other things List, Gorsleben, and Serrano taught, that would get you "disappeared" in most globalist countries today if you taught them openly. It's no secret why the communists in Berlin (under Soviet orders) tried to exterminate every last member of the Edda and Thule Societies even in their early years.

Within a Heidevolk context, I was taught by German Armanists, but not in any existing organizations. This was through a secret clan tradition, my discovery of them was most unusual, and I believe was blessed by Odin, Thor and Tyr on that rainy, thunderous day at Externsteine. My oath is to never reveal their names, though I may teach basic Armanenschaft openly outside Germany, and the higher mysteries in private.

I know of some runic stone-carvers in Sweden, but they use late Viking-age methods and not Armanen meditation when risting runes. Odinic/Armanen stone risting is a lost art, but the keys to resurrecting it are still in the Eddas and Sagas. I am not experienced with a chisel, but I expect it can't be too hard to learn. You are correct, this art must be re-learned. The ancient rune stones do emit power, in fact they are often located to resonate with the type of land they're on – some near bogs, others on mountains. They do still repel troll-minded people – which is probably why the globalist Norwegian government is now demolishing any newly uncovered runestones and Heathen temple sites, to build “housing developments” in their place. Good stonemasons who also practice Runes are very rare, and I know of none who are Armanists.

The power of carving stone for energy resonance is also well-known to the foes of Arya. I'm sure you've heard of their bizarre "guidestones" and masonic sculptures in unusual locations, oddly exempt from all the normal civilian building permits. No politician ever dares to demolish those. Our work is cut out for us.

  21. If my questions get better, and I am glad you say so, than your answers just smashed through the dome that's found some 70-100 km above our heads! Berosus? The Nommo? His name, they say, was OANNES! (And even the freemasons got on board and began celebrating him.) I mean -how on earth can someone's memory go that back in history and even name the king in question? When you say your ancestors - you mean Enlilites, of course. But who was Enlil? I was aware you had the fish-man mystery in mind when you presented yourself in the blog, but I thought it was just for fun. Now I believe you mean it for real. And the meeting at Externsteine sounds like stuff of legends too! It must have been blessed by the gods! Would that my meeting you, albeit digitally, be blessed by the same Odin, Thor and Tir!
Then there's the story you just told, and which can't be simply read about, except in inimical editions where it is found in a "cut-up" version. I know that many people, ones that like to daydream and fantasize, would accuse you of "destroying the romantic element in history tales" because of your down-to-earth interpretations. Knowing the average human's capacity for truth and susceptibility to all sorts of 'programing', I'd go with your interpretations anytime. But...they say that Oannes lived in water! How do you explain that? Is a ship meant by "in the water"? Or some other type of naval technology, for example a submarine?
I am not too sure I even know what to say at this point, or think, for that matter. I guess I could ask: how old are you? but that would be just a number that doesen't necessarily say much. But I will say this much: you should have children! (In case you don't have them already.) Many children, both physical and spiritual. I am sure someone must have impressed this on you already.
"The Queen is Indispensable!" as our beloved Maestro, Don Miguel Serrano, would say.

    1. I am still quite young. I believe I am touch with a much older wisdom which allows me to dig up the past and see through the distortions. I first encountered the Eddas in childhood, but it took some years for my curiosity in them to take hold. My ancestors come from many places, but I feel the Gorgan/Semnan strain the strongest, and these are close to the origin of the Abgallu, but further east. Many Caspian Sea Iranians are in part descended from the Abgallu. The eastern margin near Gorgan also had the benefit of trade with Germanic tribes long ago. Not just in Viking age - even far older than that. Its old name Hvargan means "wolf town" in both Persian and proto-Germanic. That's how ancient this place is. I don't claim any Germanic descent, but my ancestors did trade with them, selling steel in exchange for amber. The so-called Damascus Steel was actually invented near Gorgan, not in Damascus.

If by Oannes you mean Enlil/Anu-Laglaz, the Sumerians would have thought he lived in water because he and his people had scale-mail armor, resembling fish scales, thousands of years before any other people are known to have had it. They wore conical helmets with horn-like grooves, which resembled gills (similar to the slim stacked "horns" on the front of the crowns of Babylonian gods). They looked "fish-like" to the Sumerians because of their armor, and had longships ("sea serpents") roughly similar to the Viking type. So the Sumerians at some point probably thought the Abgallu were literally water-dwellers. But they also regard that the Abgallu themselves claimed to have traveled down from (or rather through) a place called Abzu (birthplace of waters). This is none other than Arvand-Rud, the greatest of Iranian rivers (and really, the only great one left today - back then the climate was wetter).

It is also possible that the Abgallu were so strong they could swim while wearing that armor. Or perhaps just were so skilled in metallurgy that they made armor that was both light and strong. This was probably steel armor rather than bronze, the Sumerians said it resembled fish scales and the fish in Mesopotamia are mostly silver-colored rather than golden or brown - and this was around 4500 BCE, at a time when most human cultures didn't even have bronze, let alone steel.

The meeting at Externsteine was indeed strange. But in a way, fortuitous. This was a family that knew List and Lauterer, and does not reveal its secrets to anyone. But they did to me, because I saved their son from a deadly fall, and they also sensed a long-lost spirit in me. My hands were as wet from the rain as anyone's. By all chances he should not have survived, but he did. Sadly he had little interest in the Runes, and they saw this as a disappointment. But I was willing to learn. And immediately the mention of the Armanen and Semanen struck a chord. We had them too, many ages ago. Before history was written down. At their invitation I ended up staying in North Rhine-Westphalia far longer than I had planned. Oddly this relatively new province has the same flag colors as Iran. It also contains Wewelsburg castle.

My dream is to be a teacher, have many students. I do not think I would necessarily make a good father. But perhaps now it is just too soon. It is ironic that you use that quote from Serrano, as I do also have some ancient royal blood from Persian, Parthian, and Kurds dynasties, even apart from the Abgallu connection. And I have known some beautiful women, but none yet worthy of being my queen.

  22. It is one thing to learn how to cut stone, and perhaps it truly isn't too difficult, but risting stone must be a truly unique experience?
Also, one has to find the proper place for the Stone, and if this isn't possible, an acceptable compromise must be worked out, I suppose?
There is a person living in the next vilage, Marko Pogacnik, that's famous the world over for erecting healing stones over the surface of the earth, especially places where battles raged. But he just rises up what I'd dare say are "Light Elves types of stone", full of elfish sigils and imbued with subtle energies that I hope are truly healing when all is said and done.
I did observe in those stones a degree of playing around as well, of not being realistic, of vertigo even. I am sure the author would chalk it all up to Elfish nature, saying all is as it should be, but I am not too sure. If Mr. Pogacnik thinks that type of intervention is enough to, for instance, counter, or transcend, the Georgia guidestones type of evil geomancy, than, I am afraid, he is mistaken. The funny thing is, he has his activity covered with tons of theory, books, lectures, he's constantly traveling the lecturing circuit...he even has the politicians and sponsors convinced this is important stuff, they smile and aplaud him, despite the fact that they don't exactly understand the whole thing. At the end of the day, in my case at least, the feeling of having been taken for a long ride just won't go away. It is an exact case of emperor's new clothes, no one dares say or ask a thing, afraid of that mighty entity called Public Opinion. The one thing I do credit him with, however, is the fact that he, at least, doesn't sell his stuff as art - because he easily could, the world being what it is. He sells it as medicine.
I do wish him well, and the courage to take up the "political" runes. One Holy Stave could accomplish the work of dozens of his stones.

    1. This man's work is interesting, but I get the feeling many of his "Elf sigils" are the product of his own imagination. They are more abstractions than symbols of power or healing.

A few of them resemble ancient Celtic designs, just vaguely. But again, if this is his idea of healing carvings, it's like a band-aid on a flood. It is too weak to accomplish much of anything.

He does seem to be getting rich from this work so I suppose many "spiritualist" types will buy into anything. We could potentially even do this with runes and sell lots of books and get sponsors. Though obviously I would be very selective as to who I can initiate into the esoteric side of runes, and how much I reveal of their deeper meaning.

The thing about certain runes (Sig and Odal mainly) is that so many "useful idiots" assume they are "extremist political symbols" (we know the type. these are the kind of losers who would learn only enough Karate to get their ass kicked, and then whine that it's "too violent" to be taught).

It's not that these or any runes are "political" per se; The reality is that dirty politics has intruded upon the cultural and the spiritual, not the other way around. We never asked for this. Politicians preach freedom of speech one second, and are banning symbols the next. They preach freedom of religion one second, but then openly discourage or censure all religions that don't involve fluffy lambs or flying babies. Then they dare to say they don't believe in mixing spirituality with politics. But the only type of politics they know is one that suppresses spiritual growth and only allows materialistic expressions, whether capitalist or communist, but they do not tolerate genuine spirituality. They have no capacity to understand a society whose politics draw inspiration from spiritual symbols, and whose spirituality allows a place for its civic leaders under the light of Fravar's hand, insofar as they act nobly.

And what herder cultures are unable to understand, they usually despise. What they despise, they destroy. And they do not understand organic spiritual growth, palingenesis, or the Solar Principle. Just like the Mongols didn't understand cities or farmers. They resent whatever they suck at. In the case of controlled politicians, they suck at improving people - they only ever promise to improve CONDITIONS, and usually even fail at that. But they are too cowardly to dream of improving actual people. So the conservative moans that people are unimprovable, and the liberal moans that improvement can't be defined, and by spreading such delusions they maintain their parasitic oligarchy. For a people that seeks qualitative improvement, and takes up the Runes or a system of comparable value for their own culture, is one that will not agree to be plundered in exchange for a few biscuits here and there.

This is the real reason why they fear the Runes - not because some party or Reich once used a few of them as insignia.

  23. " I build a noble and gentle Castle
    As deftly as I can
    Sweet on the roots
    Big and small
    Full of birdsong
    Its domains extend
    Beautiful as none
    This Castle is the
    Castle of Love
And the high towers of the castle
    Where to find abroad
    A bridesmaid
    And white lambs
    As symbols of love
    There lies the beloved
    Sweetly imploring
    For protection
    At time of great need
    The first door is open
    The second is always closed
    It's only for those proven
It should open with a pure kiss
    Once that door is flanked
    There are no more defenses
    At the castle
    But it goes badly
    For the one who tarries
    And advances no further
    Towards its end
    Found not worthy of love

They are made of beautiful faces
    Thick walls of dark stone
    They are evil and torment
The great room is stroke length
    And sleeping close together

    In the absence that is
    Suffer the supplicant
    Until are revealed
    The finer feelings
    Discretion held to be precious
    No fire greater than love

One who makes it into the castle
    Shall find his advocate
There you will find peace at last
    And nothing to lose
    For the legions coming
    They cannot penetrate
    Such a inviolable castle
    That place where I belong
    These are the words
    And the message
That are sent from far away. "

  24. I agree 100% with your analysis and opinion, you express it with a surgeon's precision and economy!
